Double-sided scanning creates an empty page for every one-sided sheet in the stack. Remove blank pages looks at each page and takes out the ones with no real content, then tells you which page numbers it removed. Pages with only a stray speck, a staple shadow or a page number can be caught too.

Questions
How does it decide a page is blank?
It measures how much of the page has ink on it, ignoring the very edges. You choose the threshold.
Will it remove pages with a little text?
Not with “Completely white” or “Almost white”. “Nearly empty” may remove pages that only have a page number.
Can I see which pages were removed?
Yes. The page numbers are listed when it's done.
